Conducting an MDT session
- On the left pane, click MDT to expand the menu item.
- Click MDT Sessions.
The MDT session list page is displayed, where each MDT session shows the scheduled meeting time, date and status of the session (Planned, In review, Reviewed, or Finalized) in the upper-right corner.
- Click to select the session of your interest.
The selected session is highlighted and the session details are shown on the right-hand side.
- Click the Presentation view button in the upper-right corner of the session pane.
The presentation view opens with the session case list displayed on the left-hand side and the details of the topmost case in list displayed on the right-hand side.
If you want to review a case other than the topmost one in the session case list, click to select and open it for review.
You can arrange the cases by number (#1-#9, default), alphabetically (A-Z) or date of birth of the patients (DOB) in ascending order using the Sort by: drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the session case list. If you sort the cases by date of birth, and there are one or more cases without date of birth information, these will appear at the end of the session case list.
To open the presentation view in full screen mode, click the
button in the upper-right corner. To exit full screen mode, click the
button (or the Esc key on your keyboard).
The following information is displayed (note that information displayed depends on the actual case):
- Case name or patient information in a blue banner.
- Case Summary tab showing the following information:
- Case creation and case sharing history in reverse chronological order, with latest activity at the top.
- Case attachments.
- The Resources and Activities tabs on the right of the case summary.

The following items are available on the Resources tab:
- The + ADD TO CASE button to add attachment(s) to the case.
For detailed instructions, see Adding attachments to an MDT case.
- The Studies section, listing the DICOM attachments of the case.
- The Documents section, listing the non-DICOM attachments of the case.
- The Templates section, listing the templates attached to the case.
The above sections appear only if there is at least one matching item attached to the case.
Clicking on the arrow on the right of each attachment enables you to
- go to the message with the corresponding attachment in the Case Summary section,
- open the attachment,
- download the attachment (non-DICOM and template attachments only).
Activities
For each attachment, the Activities tab displays the date when the attachment was added to the case.
For additional information about the Resources and Activities tabs, refer to the Edison™ Datalogue™ Connect Case Exchange user documentation.
- The + ADD TO CASE button to add attachment(s) to the case.
- MDT Board tab showing the following sections:
- Attendees section.
Use the Attendees section to track meeting attendance (optional).
All members of the corresponding MDT group are listed, with a check box in front of the name of each group member. Select the check box in front of the group members who participate in the current meeting or click Select all all members of the MDT group. The check boxes are not selected by default.
The Add attendee button allows you to add participants who are not MDT group members.
Click the Add attendee button and type the name of the participant in the text field that appears. You can add multiple non-group member attendees, but you can add one attendee at a time.
To remove MDT group members from the list of attendees, deselect the check box in front of their names.
To remove non-group members from the list of attendees, click the X after their names.
- MDT Board decision section.
Use the Report comment text field to record the MDT board decision about the case.
Use the Dissenting opinion text field to record all opinions by any member of the MDT group that are in disagreement with the final decision.
Use the Decision input text field to record all additional inputs used during the decision making.
The above text fields become active only after the session has been started (see next step).
- Preliminary opinions section.
The Preliminary opinions section lists all information and opinions that were provided before the start of the session.
The Preliminary opinions section is not present if preliminary opinions are not available.
Use the check box in front of each preliminary opinion to select it for inclusion in the MDT report.
The application displays check boxes for preliminary opinions only if Generic MDT Outcome Report has been selected for the MDT group at Report template. For additional information, see Viewing and editing MDT group details.
All preliminary opinions are selected by default. Deselect the check boxes for the preliminary opinions that the corresponding information/opinion providers want to omit from the MDT report.
- Attendees section.
- Click the Start session button in the upper-right corner of the session pane.
After you have clicked the Start session button, the application displays the following message:
"The session has been started."
At the same time, the Start session button turns green and its label changes to Session started. The button also becomes inactive (cannot be clicked again).
Once the session has started, the session state changes to In review and no further cases can be added to this session. Therefore, make sure that you do not start the session inadvertently because it will prevent you from submitting additional cases to the session.
Note that the button label and color changes with the changes of the session status. The button label reads
- Session started on a green background when the session is in In review state,
- Session reviewed on a gray background when the session is in Reviewed state, and
- Session finalized on a gray background when the session is in Finalized state.
- Review the case and its attachments as applicable.
To open an attachment for review, select the attachment, and then follow the applicable instructions provided in the following sections:
- After having completed the case review, complete the Report comment (mandatory), Dissenting opinion (optional) and Decision input (optional) text fields as applicable.
All content added to the Report comment, Dissenting opinion and Decision input text fields will be periodically autosaved. The content of these fields will also be autosaved if you leave the MDT Board tab.
When autosave is completed, the application displays the following message:
"All changes saved"
If autosave fails for any reason, the following message appears:
"Unable to save changes"
- Select the check box at I acknowledge that the content of this page cannot be edited once the case is marked as reviewed.
- Click the Mark as reviewed button on the right of the Report comment text field.
A tick mark with green background is displayed in front of the case in the session case list on the left-hand side and the next case in the session case list is selected and displayed automatically (if applicable).
- Review the next case, if applicable, as described above.
You do not have to review all cases of a session in a single review session, and you do not even have to mark a case as reviewed in a session, you can return to the same session at a later date if necessary.
Also, a case will automatically inherit the list of attendees from the previously reviewed case. However, you can freely edit the attendee list if there has been changes.
- Click Close in the upper-right corner to quit the presentation mode and return to the MDT session list.
If you leave the MDT Board tab and autosave failed for any reason, the application displays the following warning message:
"Leaving the patient case before selecting 'Mark as reviewed' will result in all content on the MDT Board page being lost. Do you want to proceed?"
Click Yes to proceed (all information you have entered will be lost) or click No to stay at the current case.
The session status remains in In review state until all its cases have been marked as reviewed.
Once all cases have been reviewed, the session status changes to Reviewed.
