Viewing DICOM attachments in a local viewer configured for MDT
A DICOM attachment can be viewed in a local viewer configured for MDT if all the following conditions are met:
- The DICOM study was imported from a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- The viewer configured for MDT has access to the PACS the DICOM study was imported from.
Currently, MDT supports the GE UV Web Viewer.
- The viewer supports the browser configured for DICOM studies.
Currently, GE UV Web Viewer supports Internet Explorer® 11.
- On the left pane, click MDT to expand the menu item.
- Click My MDT.
The case list appears.
Note: Only in progress (non-finalized) cases are listed under My MDT.Processed/finalized MDT cases are available under the Case Exchange > All Cases menu item.
- Click a case to select it.
The selected case is highlighted and the case details are shown on the right-hand side.
- Click the DICOM study of your interest in the Case Summary section.
The line of the selected DICOM study is expanded, displaying the buttons for all available viewers.
Optionally, hover the pointer over each button to display the name and IP address of the corresponding viewer.
Alternatively, you can open the DICOM study from the Studies section of the Resources tab on the right of the Case Summary section.
- Click the button of the local viewer in which you want to open the DICOM study.
The Login to <viewer name> dialog box appears.
- In the Username field, enter your user name for the selected viewer.
- In the Password field, enter your password for the selected viewer.
- Click Login.
You need to log in to a viewer within the same MDT session only once. If you open another DICOM study using the same viewer you have already logged in to, you will not be asked to enter your viewer account details (user name and password) again.
If you entered incorrect user name and/or password, the application displays the following message on the Login to <viewer name> dialog box:
"Wrong user name or password."
Enter your correct viewer user name and password, and then click Login again.
If you change your mind for any reason or the login takes too long, you can cancel the login by clicking the Cancel button on the Launch <viewer name> message box that displays the following message:
"Opening study with <viewer name>. You will find the viewer in another window."
If you select Cancel on the Launch <viewer name> message box, it will terminate the process, and the following message appears:
"Launching local viewer cancelled."
In this case, you will return to the case details.
The DICOM study opens in the selected local viewer and the application displays the following temporary message:
"Study <study name> has been opened in a new window."
If opening the DICOM study fails, MDT displays an error message.
- If the viewer is currently unavailable for any reason, the following message appears:
"The <viewer name> viewer is either slow or not responding."
Click the X on the message box to close it and return to the case details, and then try to open the DICOM study again.
- If opening the study fails for an unspecified reason, the following message appears:
"Could not open <viewer name>."
Click the X on the message box to close it and return to the case details, and then try to open the DICOM study again.
- If the viewer is currently unavailable for any reason, the following message appears:
- When you have finished reviewing the DICOM study, close the viewer.
If you select another case in My MDT or in presentation mode while a DICOM study is still open in the viewer, the application will automatically close the open DICOM study and the viewer.
For additional information about presentation mode, see Conducting an MDT session.
Refer to the GE UV Web Viewer user documentation for detailed instructions for use of the application.
